At Flypeople we understand that we have a responsibility to respect your privacy and look after your personal data.  We are committed to protecting your privacy and your data.


Flypeople may be both data controller and data processor. This policy is subject to change, so please check our website on a regular basis for any further changes.

Flypeople Limited is an aviation training company based primarily in Malta (company no. C88348), but operating worldwide. The Data Control Officer is Shaun Waddingham.

How the law protects you

Data protection laws state that we are only able to process personal data if we have valid reasons to do so. The reasons we process your personal data include, but are not limited to, enabling us to contact you, enabling us to store training records for training you may have had with us, adherence to aviation safety regulations, and putting you in touch with suitable career paths.

How do we collect personal data from you?

We do not automatically collect data or addresses of visitors to our website. We receive information from you when you complete forms on our website, from details you supply at exhibitions, if you contact us by email or otherwise, and from application/booking forms and course enrolment documents.

From time to time we may be passed data by another training provider who has referred you to Flypeople.  In such cases we cannot guarantee the security of the data prior to it arriving with us, and you should be review the privacy policies of all companies to whom you trust your data.  If we are passed such data in this way we will presume this is with your permission and cannot be held liable for breaches of your data privacy by being in receipt of such.  Once we receive this data we will of course treat it with the utmost respect and as outlined in this document.

If you provide us with personal data about a third party (for example when registering a friend or family member), you warrant that you have obtained the express consent from the third party for the disclosure and use of their personal data.


What type of data do we collect from you?

The personal data that we may collect from you includes your name, postal address, email address, phone numbers, bank details, place, date of birth and nationality.

We also collect information on your employment history and training history. Any data produced by Flypeople as a result of your participation on a course will also be collected.

We process such data on your behalf. We are not responsible for the accuracy of any data provided by you. You are responsible for any applicable legal requirements in respect of your data.

We do not collect credit card details.  If you wish to pay us by card we will transfer you to a reputable and secure provider, e.g. PayPal who will process your payment.


How do we use your data?

We use information about you in the following ways:

  • To process bookings which you have made
  • To provide you with products and services
  • To administer accounts, process payments and keep track of billing and payments
  • To monitor you training history and verify aviation compliancy
  • To contact you in relation to career opportunities
  • To notify you about changes to our website and services
  • To provide you with information about products or services that you request from us or which we feel may interest you, where you have consented to be contacted for such purposes
  • We do not use your data for automated marketing campaigns
  • We do not sell data to marketing companies


Retention periods

We will keep your personal data for the duration of the period you are a customer or potential customer. If you have attended a course which is regulated by aviation laws we shall retain your data only for as long as necessary in accordance with the applicable laws.   You have the right to request deletion of data and in this situations, and if the law permits, the data shall be deleted only upon your submission of any certificates and qualifications provided by Flypeople Ltd.  Any such qualifications shall be revoked.

Third parties
We do not and never shall sell your personal data to third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.

We may pass your personal data to third parties for the provision of services on our behalf. Examples would be:

  • To enable secure payment methods e.g. PayPal
  • To enable a subcontract training provider to perform your training
  • To enable your enrolment


We only use reputable providers of these services, who ensure your personal data is secure and will not be used for any marketing purposes.

If you request that we pass your details to employers, we will provide them the necessary data as requested.

 

Your rights
You have the right to be forgotten, i.e. you have the right to object to our use of your personal data, or ask us to delete, remove or stop using it if there is no need for us to keep it. Please inform us if you think we are retaining or using your personal data incorrectly. We will comply with your request, but please be advised that qualifications may be subject to revocation.

Use of cookies
We only have one cookie on our website, which is a session cookie.  It doesn’t hold any information and destroys itself when your session is closed (when you close your browser).

Links to other sites
Flypeople may provide links to third party sites. Any information that is supplied on these sites will not be within our control and we cannot be responsible for the privacy policies and practices of these. We suggest you review their privacy policies.


We do not supply data to these third party sites unless it is with your consent and in accordance with this document.


Where we store your personal data
We follow accepted standards to store and protect the personal data we collect, including the use of encryption if appropriate.


As the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure, we cannot guarantee the security of data transmitted by you - any transmission is at your own risk. Once we have received your information, we will use strict procedures to try to prevent unauthorised access.


We use only reputable providers of electronic storage, and procure the services of specialist providers to try to ensure safe storage and information management.


All hard copy data is stored in locked offices and/or supervised by our Co-ordinators and Trainers.  Any unnecessary data is destroyed after processing.

 

Data breaches

In the event of a data breach, we shall ensure that our obligations under applicable data protection laws are complied with where necessary.
