We are delighted to announce that we will be re-opening our training centre in Malta from 20th July!
Skypeople are very pleased to announce the launch of a new series of simulator-based workshops designed to help ATC attain a better understanding of the role of the pilot.
Skypeople have developed a reputation for cross-linking many different sectors of the aviation world. This new offering is based on the writings of ‘Controller turned Pilot’ David Harrison who has long believed that more could be done to enhance the role of the Air Traffic Controller by letting them take part in a series of carefully structured pilot procedures, whilst at the same time let them have some fun flying an accurate simulator.
The roles of Pilot and Controller are arguably the two most important roles in the industry. Industry reaction to this new initiative is confirming our view that this type of interaction is long overdue.
The 1-day workshop is structured in a choice of two formats to suit either Area Controllers or Tower/Approach Controllers. Both sessions consist of a mix of sim-based procedures, punctuated with tabletop training examples and discussions in an open forum to allow the attendees to ask the what/why/how behind the technical and human factors of the pilot role.
The sessions are facilitated by Skypeople’s pilot Kate Starkey and operated at the fantastic facilities of Skypeople’s preferred simulator training partner, Ascent Aviation in Glasgow.
The first workshop took place in early December. A group of 8 staff from NATS Prestwick attended, and consisted of Controllers, Managers, and Pseudo Pilots from the NATS training unit. A big thank you must go out to all who attended - an enjoyable day was had by all, with excellent feedback on a truly enlightening learning experience.
The workshops can be booked to suit a variety of group sizes and enquiries are being received from ATC Operations and Training Managers all over the UK recognising that Glasgow is one of the easiest domestic airports to fly to.
I took the EASA CCA with flypeople (skypeople's sister company) in Malta. The course was intense, 4 days but every little detail was made crystal clear and fun to learn. As I have gone through the course before in the UAE I knew what the course includes, but even if I didn't there's a pre-course workbook sent to every participant before flying off to Malta.
I exchanged a few emails with Louise where she gave me lots of advice on where to stay, buses to take, how to move around, how to reach the building where the course would take place, etc.
My groups instructor/trainer was Simon. Simon has a charisma in teaching. He made everything seem so easy. His way of teaching is remarkable. He had a way to communicate with every single one of us despite our different cultures and background. Funny and serious at the same time, he made a 4 day intense course feel like a game. Thank you so much for all the information, all the knowledge and the fun. I strongly recommend flypeople! Elena Oct-19
